Chocolate Banana Ghosts

Get into the spirit with Chocolate Banana Ghosts. With just a few minutes and a few ingredients, there will be ghosts for every party guest. Plus, the instructions are simple, which make these a great family activity!

You’ll need:

  • Bananas, peeled and cut in half
  • White melting chocolate
  • Extra small chocolate chips
  • Popsicle sticks or cake pop skewers
  • and room in your freezer!

Insert the skewers into the flat end of the cut banana, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze until solid, about 2 hours. Melt the chocolate carefully in your microwave or in a double boiler. Make sure to heat slowly, and to stir frequently.  Dip the banana in the chocolate and coat it completely. Use three small chocolate chips near the top of the banana to make a ghostly face, two for the eyes, and one for the open mouth. Boo!

If you have a cake pop stand, your ghosts will be smooth all around, hopefully with chocolate drips at the bottom. If not, you can place them on a baking sheet, faces up, and use white chocolate to make ghostly arms!

Enjoy your ghostly dessert and visit Thrillvania Haunted House Park this Saturday Sept. 27th!

Evil Clowns!

scary_clown_faces-1

Clowns are happy, zany and funny, right? Everyone loves clowns–or do they? Doesn’t it seem that most clowns are just a little too cheerful? Lots of people have this eerie feeling that clowns aren’t really as happy as they seem. Sad clowns are almost as frightening, but it’s the hyper, happy clowns that appear really unhinged!

What is it that’s so scary about clowns? Even the “good” clowns seem…a little strange. Those maniacal smiles and painted faces seem to mask something ominous and chilling. Are they harboring some dark secret, trying to hide it with their disguise?

If you’re one of those people that are afraid of clowns, you’re not alone. There’s a name for the fear of clowns–coulrophobia. If you find yourself feeling a little (or a lot) nervous around clowns, you might be suffering from coulrophobia!

Boo-berry Witch Brew

Halloween-Broom-Hilda-1920-x-1200

If you’re having a Halloween party, you’ve got to have Halloween punch! What is it about Halloween that makes kids (young and old) want to eat scary looking food? Here’s a recipe for witch’s brew that’s spooky, slimy and easy to make. All you need are three ingredients.

You’ll need a 6-ounce box of blueberry Jello, 3 cups of lemonade, and 3 cups of any kind of carbonated lemon-lime soda. Make the gelatin by dissolving it in 2 cups of boilng water, then adding 4 cups of cold water. Chill it for about 4 hours–it will still be a little jiggly.

Put the gelatin in your punchbowl (or cauldron?) and smush it up into pieces with a fork. Add the lemonade and soda, and there you have it. Slime-tastic punch! If you want, you can add in some gummy worms, or other scary gummy candy. Witches, ghosts and goblins love it, so don’t be surprised if one or two crash your party!
