Which Halloween Monster Are You?

The countdown to Halloween is officially on! When the spookiest time of year rolls around, that only means one thing at Thrillvania Haunted House Park:

The monsters are all rising and coming out to play!

If you’re from Terrell, TX, you’ve probably heard plenty about Verdun Manor and all the monsters who terrorize these parts. But even if you’re not from around here, you should still beware of all the monsters anywhere you go.

Who knows… You may even be one yourself!

Which Halloween monster best describes you? Read on to find out… if you dare.

Halloween Monster

Vampire

Humans have long been fascinated with the concept of the “undead.” In European folklore, vampires were born out of this idea, and today, we understand vampires as the blood-sucking, anti-sunshine, and ever-enigmatic creatures of the night -thanks to vampire books and movies.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could live forever like a vampire? Some folks even claim that vampires are real, so maybe you will live forever, too.

You may be a vampire if:

    • You stay up late at night (definitely not a morning person.)
    • Your senses of sight, smell & sound are strong (or even too sensitive)
    • You’re fast, agile & athletic (but also suffer from depression & mood swings.)
    • You’re intelligent & quick-witted (but may have an inflated ego, too.)

Ghost

From haunted houses and menacing poltergeists to kind, communicative spirits, there are all sorts of forms the supernatural can take. We all know ghosts from scary movies, books, and ghost hunter tv shows - and yes, we’re talking to you Patrick Swayze fans! But deep down, is your Halloween monster a ghost?

You may be a ghost if:

  • You’re introverted and shy (and a little too standoffish.)
  • You’re self-sufficient & independent (but feel lost in the world sometimes.)
  • You’re nostalgic & enjoy reliving the past (and don’t always acknowledge the present.)
  • You’re always cold.

Witch

Witchcraft has historically captivated humans around the world, even to the point of causing mass hysteria at one point in time. Regardless of the controversy surrounding witchcraft, many folks embrace witchcraft, and even consider it real and beneficial.

Maybe you’re into wearing shawls, frolicking around the woods, and you’ve got an unmistakable, contagious cackle. But is it possible that you’re a witch deep down?

You may be a witch if:

  • You’re intuitive & read people well (to the point that you actually dislike people.)
  • You love nature & animals (and don’t understand why more people don’t.)
  • You speak your mind (and may even be disliked for the things you say & do.)
  • You’re magnetic & a bit quirky (and definitely love to wear black.)

Demon

There’s good. Then, there’s evil. There are angels, and then there are demons.

Good versus bad has always been a concept since the beginning of time. It can certainly feel like there’s a little angel or a little devil sitting on our shoulders and driving all of our actions. But does it ever seem like the devilish side speaks to you more?

You may be a demon if:

    • You’re extroverted & confident (and definitely love the spotlight.)
    • You love food, money, & having a good time (and indulge to excess sometimes.)
    • You’re loyal & committed (and even a little possessive.)
    • You’re a risk-taker (which can get you in trouble sometimes.)

Werewolf

If your personality doesn’t match that of a ghost, witch, vampire, or demon, never fear! There are plenty of other monsters that resonate with you best. Werewolves may not get as much attention as these other creatures, but if your Halloween monster is a werewolf, you’re one of the best people to have as a friend - and one of the worst people to upset!

You may be a werewolf if:

      • You’re a fierce friend or lover (who doesn’t take betrayal well. At all.)
      • You’re independent & enjoy your own company (but tend to feel insecure.)
      • You’re a hard worker (but can be your own worst critic.)
      • You’re respected among your peers (but are also feared for your temper & mood swings.)

Zombie

From movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, and actual zombie walks, these creatures are extremely popular… and pretty creepy, too! Despite all the buzz surrounding zombies, your personality may be most similar to one. How do you know for sure if you’re just a zombie walking the earth as we know it?

You may be a zombie if:

      • You enjoy socializing & being part of a group (but don’t always think for yourself.)
      • You’re easy-going & not easily phased by little things (albeit apathetic sometimes.)
      • You’re motivated by food & things you enjoy (and are prone to bouts of serious laziness.)
      • You’re downright scary before you’ve had your coffee in the morning.

How to Celebrate a Scary St Patrick’s Day

The countdown to St Patrick’s Day is ticking away! In a few short days, a sea of green will take over cities across the world. The scent of corned beef and Guinness will infiltrate the air. You might even catch a St Patrick’s Day parade in your home city… and you might even be looking forward to a little debauchery.

There’s nothing wrong with celebrating Saint Patrick the traditional way. But if you’re a fanatic of everything horrific and gory, why not celebrate a scary St Patrick’s Day this year?

It might not be October yet. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a taste of the greatest time of year in March. And even though St Patrick’s Day is only days away, there’s still time to make the celebration a little bit creepy.

If you’re ready to have a spooky St Patrick’s Day , here are some ideas to inspire you!

St Patrick’s Day Costumes

What’s a scary St Patrick’s Day without creepy costumes to go with it?

Contrary to what some may argue, St Patrick’s Day is a great reason to dress up in costume. You’ve probably seen people dress up in ridiculous get-ups on this holiday, anyway. But what’s stopping you from channeling your inner green zombie or evil leprechaun this Sunday?

Of course, a leprechaun costume is by far the most popular choice. If you already have a green suit, a matching hat, buckled shoes, and a beard to go with it all, you’re in luck. But to create this costume, there are a few options you could try.

For starters, you could lather on some green face paint and cover your hands and arms, as well. Not only is green skin reminiscent of witches, Frankenstein, and ghouls. You’ll look less human and more monsterly and possessed. If you have colored costume eye contacts, be sure to wear them!

Make your green skin appear rotting to add to the creepiness. There are several ways to do this. But the easiest way is to rip apart cotton balls and apply them on your skin with liquid latex. This will make your skin appear like it’s falling apart.

You don’t have to be an evil leprechaun to pull off this look, either. You could be the zombie of a St. Patrick’s Day celebrator or an Irish bagpiper. You could simply be a green monster. After making your skin appear green and rotten, wrap an Irish flag around your shoulders, put on a kilt, or cover yourself in fake shamrocks. If you don’t have green body paint, you could apply fake wounds and fake blood, too.

Creepy Beverages & Irish Food

Aside from wearing green, eating and drinking is another big part of St Patrick’s Day. Beer, corned beef, and cabbage are the standards. But what can you eat and drink to help you celebrate a scary St Patrick’s Day this year?

When it’s time to skip the beer and try a cocktail, make sure to have a creepy cocktail garnish to go with it. For fruity, sweet drinks, try a lychee ball with a blueberry (it looks like an eyeball.) Or, you can drizzle some red, syrupy liqueur on your glass and make it look like blood.

Use strawberry syrup and the “lychee eyeball” garnish for non-alcoholic beverages. You could also whip up a green potion punch made with sherbet and lemon-lime soda. If you have a fog machine or dry ice, use it to add to the spooky ambiance.

Not a fan of corned beef? There is Irish meatloaf, and it’s perfect if you’re looking to celebrate a scary St Patrick’s Day. Irish meatloaf is traditionally served with a red tomato sauce.

You can mold your loaf of ground beef into any creepy shape you want. For example, you could mold it into a hand, a head, or anything you put your creative mind to.

If you’ll be serving up potatoes for dinner, try a colcannon recipe. It’s a traditional mashed potato dish popular in Ireland. It’s usually mixed with cooked kale or cabbage. To make it creepy, drizzle a red gravy sauce over it. You can even trick your dinner guests this Sunday by telling them that the gravy is “mystery meat”.

Stay in & Relax (and Don’t Forget to Lock Your Doors!)

Looking to avoid the chaos of your local St Patrick’s Day parade and the debauchery of the entire holiday?

St Patrick’s Day is a great day to stay in and watch movies. There are a number of great films about Irish identity and culture.

However, if you’re a horror fan 365 days a year, then there’s no better movie to watch than Leprechaun (film). The horror comedy was a box office flop – but it is forever ingrained as a horror cult movie. The film stars Warwick Davis as an evil leprechaun on a blood-thirsty hunt for his pot of gold. The film also stars Jennifer Aniston in her first film debut.

Leprechaun (film) is often broadcasted on St Patrick’s Day. So, be sure to check your local listings or your go-to streaming service to see when if it’s available. You’ll be in for some laughs, as well as a fright!

Have a Happy, Safe, & Scary St Patrick’s Day

St Patrick’s Day is only days away… How will you celebrate this year?

Regrettably, Thrillvania Haunted House Park won’t be able to celebrate a scary St Patrick’s Day with you this year. Unfortunately, we fell victim to an evil leprechaun infestation and you can read more about the story.

Never fear! By celebrating a St Patrick’s Day in true horror fashion, Thrillvania can still be with you in spirit. So, be safe, have fun, and stay spooky!

Evil Leprechaun Destroys St Patrick’s Day at Thrillvania

Halloween may still be over 7 months away… but who’s counting? Luckily, St Patrick’s Day is right around the corner – and that’s definitely a day to look forward to.

So, it’s time to bust out your green gear and Irish flags, all you scary shamrocks!

As for us here at Thrillvania? We wish we could be joining you all for a spooky Irish jig. Instead, we’ll be cleaning up after the evil leprechaun who recently wreaked havoc on Verdun Manor – and we’re here to tell you the story.

So, how did it all happen?

It all started when a ghostly St Patrick’s Day parade ravaged Fort Worth. Baron Verdun got wind of the evil parade from his friends over at the Cutting Edge (who are still dealing with their evil leprechaun infestation.)

The Baron and his vampire bride have no appetite for leprechauns – nor do they want their company this St Patrick’s Day. Leprechauns are devious and mischievous creatures (especially the evil ones.) But they also love abandoned places… and the gorgeously creepy and foreboding Verdun Manor would be perfect for leprechauns to play tricks.

So, the Baron and Lady Cassandra decided to lay out a leprechaun trap. The killer couple have collected their fair share of gold over the years from their victims. The sight of all that gold would be enough to lure even the most plotting of leprechauns. Once they accumulated all their gold in a pot, they placed it in the center of their trap, with a trail of shamrocks leading right to it.

But that’s not all. The Baron and the Lady even made sure the ghouls of Voodoo Bayou were ready to take on the evil St Patrick’s Day parade. The parade had already made its way through Fort Worth and Dallas in the middle of the night, and was heading straight for the sleepy town of Terrell. The Voodoo ghouls were armed and ready with pitchforks. And should a pesky little leprechaun get past the ghouls (“Impossible!” exclaimed Baron Verdun), the trap would do its job!

The scary parade blasted through Terrell. Sure enough, a creepy leprechaun with razor-edged teeth and orange eyes wandered its way onto Thrillvania Haunted House Park.

But the Baron and Lady’s plan quickly fell apart. The fiery blast of Voodoo Bayou was unable to scare away the leprechaun. It was even able to scurry past the Voodoo ghouls, who weren’t fast enough to keep up.

As the leprechaun approached the doors of Verdun Manor, it cast a bad luck spell. The spell disarmed the leprechaun trap, allowing it to snatch up every last bit of gold.

But it wasn’t done there! The leprechaun continued to cast its bad luck spell until every corridor and cellar door became flooded with swamp water. Bad news for Lady Cassandra, the house vampiress who can’t bear the sight of water, let alone touch it without evaporating into thin air. So, needless to say, Baron Verdun has his hands full between a flooded manor, his wrathful wife, and a whole mess to clean up.

Beware This St Patrick’s Day

Due to the unfortunate series of events, Thrillvania Haunted House Park will not be opening St Patrick’s Day. But we’ll be back soon with a vengeance. After all, an evil leprechaun stole all of our gold, and we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the rascal.

Beware! It could be coming for you next. As you stay alert, why not stay tuned for more St Patrick’s Day news & stories here at Thrillvania Blog.
