What Scares You?

scared

We all have fears. You might be afraid of spiders, snakes…the dentist? One of the most common fears is achluophobia, the fear of darkness. How can you not be afraid of the dark? Imagine what might be lurking in the dark–just waiting to attack. But there are fears so strange, you can’t even imagine! Did you know that arachibutyrophobia means “fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth?” Well, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet.

Many people suffer from ogyphobia–fear of the bogeyman. And bogeymen have been known to hide under your bed, in the closet or in any shadowy place. On the other hand, if you’re afraid of ghosts, you could say that you have hasmophobia.

Halloween tends to bring out creepy creatures, and lots of people are scared of them. Eeek! If bats frighten you, then you might be a chiroptophobic. What about creatures that are not just creepy, they’re crawly, too? You’ve got herpetophobia.

And don’t forget phobophobia, the fear of phobias. Experience Thrillvania Haunted House Park and see what scares you…..

Halloween characters all around you!

Have you ever noticed that some people just naturally seem like Halloween characters? You may know some creepy people, but what if they’re really something else? You may have monsters surrounding you!

Your slacker friend who never gets out of bed until 5pm, and sucks you dry of money, always borrowing it and never paying you back. He might be a vampire.

The tall guy who doesn’t talk a lot. Kinda shuffles, has a really bad haircut. Remind you of Frankenstein?

Your cousin who is always cooking up weird meals and concoctions, and she recites poetry. She’s a witch!

The hairy guy who looks like he could tear you limb from limb. Kind of schizo–he’s a bully sometimes, but then he can be kind of cool . Could he be a weewolf?

That woman who’s afraid of UV rays and covers up in raggedy clothes head to toe, even when it’s 100 degrees outside. She has a lot of kids. She’s a mummy.

Your friend who disappears every so often, and then magically reappears in some totally different place. He’s a ghost.

That girl you’d do anything to avoid. Always wears a hoodie. Just call her the Grim Reaper!

Keep your eyes open for other ghouls!

Don’t miss Thrillvania Haunted House Park for Opening Day, Saturday September 27th, 2014. We will be waiting for you…..

Chocolate Banana Ghosts

Get into the spirit with Chocolate Banana Ghosts. With just a few minutes and a few ingredients, there will be ghosts for every party guest. Plus, the instructions are simple, which make these a great family activity!

You’ll need:

  • Bananas, peeled and cut in half
  • White melting chocolate
  • Extra small chocolate chips
  • Popsicle sticks or cake pop skewers
  • and room in your freezer!

Insert the skewers into the flat end of the cut banana, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze until solid, about 2 hours. Melt the chocolate carefully in your microwave or in a double boiler. Make sure to heat slowly, and to stir frequently.  Dip the banana in the chocolate and coat it completely. Use three small chocolate chips near the top of the banana to make a ghostly face, two for the eyes, and one for the open mouth. Boo!

If you have a cake pop stand, your ghosts will be smooth all around, hopefully with chocolate drips at the bottom. If not, you can place them on a baking sheet, faces up, and use white chocolate to make ghostly arms!

Enjoy your ghostly dessert and visit Thrillvania Haunted House Park this Saturday Sept. 27th!
